Infowar: Shadows of the Grid

Infowar: Shadows of the Grid blends Roblox-inspired visuals with Unity-based MMORPG mechanics to teach kids aged 8–16 how to spot and resist disinformation. Players explore megacities fragmented by a global info-war, gradually learning how false narratives spread and how to fight them. Disguised as survival gameplay, every mechanic is tied to media literacy, social decision-making, and critical thinking — without ever losing the fun.

Core Gameplay Mechanics

Players receive anonymous messages through the DataLink system, each containing potential tasks, resource tips, or news. Some are truthful, others intentionally misleading. To survive, players must verify messages, ignore them, or manipulate the content themselves, with each choice affecting their resources, trust level, and clan dynamics.

A visible Trust Rating tracks every decision, shaping alliances and in-game consequences. Real-time information sharing adds pressure, especially when key resources shift locations. The "Mark" mechanic allows players to tag data points, but even those tags can be faked — turning every exchange into a test of judgment.
